 How Social Security and DOGE can help expedite deportations

The Social Security Administration (SSA) and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) can identify individuals using fraudulently obtained Social Security numbers (SSNs) to help expedite deportations and to stop illegal-alien-driven crime. Key points:

  • 75 percent of illegal aliens use fraudulently obtained Social Security numbers (SSN) to get jobs;
  • The SSA can also send out no-match letters to employers to help dry up the jobs that draw illegal aliens to the United States and that entice them to stay;
  • American men, women, and – especially – children, whose SSNs are being used by illegal aliens for employment purposes will be the greatest beneficiaries of collaboration between the SSA and DOGE.

According to the Social Security Chief Actuary, the ACLU, and illegal immigrant advocates, roughly 75 percent of illegal aliens have fraudulently obtained SSNs that they use for employment and other purposes. All too often these SSNs belong to American citizens, ranging in age from 0 to over 100. However, rather than putting Americans first, the SSA protects illegal aliens by covering up their use of stolen SSNs.

President Trump can change current practices by ordering DOGE and the SSA to identify individuals who are using Americans’ stolen SSNs as well as their employers. The SSA can then refer the perpetrators and their employers to the appropriate law enforcement authorities for prosecution and deportation when applicable. This will finally put Americans first. It may also encourage illegal aliens to voluntarily depart the United States while discouraging more economic migrants from attempting to illegally enter the United States.

SSA and DOGE Can Help Expedite Deportations

Working together the SSA and DOGE can:

  • Identify all SSNs that are being used by more than one living person and/or SSNs that are being used even though they have not been officially issued by the SSA.
  • Identify individuals using fraudulently obtained SSNs and the true owners of those SSNs.
  • Compile a list of all SSNs being fraudulently used along with the names, the contact info of the individuals illegally using those SSNs for employment purposes and the identity and contact information of their employers.
  • Provide the names and contact information of the individuals using the unlawfully obtained SSNs to the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and state Attorneys General for their appropriate action.
  • Advise the individuals whose SSNs have been compromised that they are victims of identity theft and provide them with the documentation that they need to report these crimes to their local police, to freeze their credit, to protect their SSNs from future use for employment purposes by using E-Verify Self-Lock, etc.
  • Send SSN no-match letters to all employers who are employing individuals using SSNs that have not been issued to them. Give employers a short deadline to either rectify the mismatch or to terminate the employees using SSNs that do not belong to them and strongly encourage these employers to sign up for, and start using, E-Verify for all new hires.
  • Refer employers who do not cooperate and/or who have a history of employing large numbers of illegal aliens using stolen SSNs to the appropriate authorities for possible prosecution. This will assist DHS which has already asked the IRS to investigate the finances of businesses suspected of employing illegal migrants.

Most Illegal Aliens Commit Multiple Felonies to Obtain Employment

Based on the information from the SSA and DOGE, ICE can identify employers for workplace actions (raids) which will substantially speed up deportations because individuals who are unlawfully in the United States are illegal, but not undocumented. These illegal aliens have lots of fraudulently obtained documents. In fact, almost immediately after illegally entering the U.S. or after overstaying a visa, they procure a set of forged documents that are acceptable for I-9 purposes. These documents include a forged Social Security number and card plus several other fraudulent documents such as a forged resident alien card, a forged alien registration card, a forged employment authorization document, a forged state driver’s license, etc.

When illegal aliens use their fraudulently obtained documents to obtain employment with reputable employers who comply with existing employment verification requirements, they commit multiple felonies under both federal and state laws — document fraud, forgery, perjury on Form I-9, identity fraud, etc. Therefore, once they are arrested for any crime, the illegal aliens using fraudulent documents can be charged with that crime and/or with the appropriate state and federal job-related, felony crimes. They can then be deported once their cases have been resolved and jail time, if any, has been served. (Note: American citizens, including deadbeat parents who use their kids’ SSNs to avoid wage garnishments and individuals with criminal records that they are trying to hide from employers, also use stolen SSNs. They also can be identified and prosecuted for their crimes but, of course, they cannot be deported.)

Working together, the SSA and DOGE can help ICE locate criminal illegal aliens who already have deportation orders. In addition, they can help stop other illegal-alien-driven criminal activity because illegal aliens who are committing crimes, including those involved with gangs, also use fraudulently obtained SSNs to obtain employment. These individuals often work in construction, auto repair, farming, landscaping, and other low-skill occupations where employers refuse to use E-Verify and rely solely on paper I-9 forms, which allows them to accept fake documents with a wink and a nod. Therefore, once identified, these illegal aliens can be charged with the appropriate job-related felonies and deported. This will stop the criminal activities that they may be engaged in while also disrupting gang activity.

No-Match Letters Can Help Dry Up Job Opportunities for Illegal Aliens

The SSA can also send out no-match letters to employers when there is a difference between the information an employer gives the SSA about an employee and the employee’s information in the SSA’s records. Once employers start receiving no-match letters and become aware that they are vulnerable to criminal prosecution for hiring illegal aliens, jobs for illegal aliens will largely dry up except for those with employers who hire under the table or for illegal aliens who are self-employed. Therefore, the opportunity for an illegal alien to get a job and earn a living will be severely curtailed and individuals illegally in the United States may decide to voluntarily leave the States or to turn themselves in to government authorities so they can be deported back to their home countries at taxpayer expense.

In 2023, theft of a person’s identifying information to earn wages and/or file taxes without their permission accounted for 7 percent of all identity theft reports filed with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Generally, this type of identity theft is “SSN Only” identity theft, which occurs when an individual uses someone else’s SSN with their own name and birthdate. The employment-related identity theft reports filed with the FTC are just the tip of the iceberg because most Americans, including children, don’t know that they are victims of this crime, and even if it is reported, law enforcement generally does little to help the victims or to catch the perpetrators.

Therefore, an untold number of Americans, including children, suffer serious harm when their SSNs are used by illegal aliens to get jobs, file taxes, and to get other benefits. These Americans may have their credit destroyed. Arrest records may be attached to their SSNs leading to false arrests, denial of jobs, housing, etc. They may be deprived of critical means-tested benefits such as Medicaid when the income earned by individuals using their SSNs is attributed to them. They may have their medical records corrupted with life-threatening consequences. They may be held accountable for unpaid taxes linked to their SSNs, But most importantly they will have their good names and reputations destroyed. Therefore, it is imperative that individuals improperly using Americans’ SSNs be identified, prosecuted, and deported so that these innocent American men, women, and children can finally recover their identities and, perhaps even more importantly, their good names.

Conclusion. SSA and DOGE can play a key role in the Trump administration’s efforts to deport millions of people unlawfully in the United States. They can identify and help locate illegal aliens with deportation orders as well as those who are committing job-related felonies by using unlawfully obtained SSNs. They can help dry up the jobs for illegal aliens by exposing their employers. They can help DHS and other agencies identify and prosecute employers who are knowingly hiring illegal aliens. They can encourage individuals unlawfully in the United States to voluntarily leave by making it much more difficult for them to get jobs and by exposing their job-related, felony crimes. And they can put Americans first by finally standing up for Americans who are victims of illegal alien, job-related identity theft.
